We will now start the next stage of HS2 design and environmental work, for a hybrid bill for the London to West Midlands line, working closely with our stakeholders, incorporating changes requested by the Secretary of State to the proposed London to West Midlands route.

Details of HS2 consultations are available on the High Speed Rail consultation site.

We also continuing to work on proposals for the line of route to Leeds and Manchester, and will deliver our recommendations on the routes for phase two to the Government in 2012.

The new scheme will improve capacity across the rail network, shorten journey times between Britain’s major population centres, boost the economy and create thousands of jobs.
