About HS2

High Speed Two (HS2) Ltd is the company set up by the Government to consider the case for new high speed rail services between London and Scotland.

HS2 was established in January 2009 and announced by the Secretary of State for Transport in his document ‘Britain’s Transport Infrastructure – High Speed Two’. Our remit was agreed between Sir David Rowlands and Lord Adonis in an exchange of letters in early 2009.

Terms of Reference

The role of the Board is to:

• ensure effective governance of the company and that the company makes decisions, at the right time, and properly manage risks
• shape, challenge and direct the agenda for the company delivering stated priorities
• monitor performance and risk, making choices (or recommendations to ministers) on priorities / risk appetite
• oversee the health of our relations with our stakeholders and commercial partners

The Board meets monthly and Suzanne Roddie is the Secretary.
