Our awards

Whilst we strive to achieve excellence and not awards, it’s great when our work is recognised and appreciated by others. We constantly push ourselves to be a more inclusive, diverse employer and so we are proud that we’ve recently picked up a number of awards in this area and beyond.

The 5% Club

HS2 has been awarded gold membership of the 5% club for 2023/24 for having more than 5% of the workforce on earn and learn schemes.

Princess Royal Training Awards

HS2 received this award in 2023 for its Management Discovery Programme, which was created to build mid-level management skills and embed a new leadership framework. 294 managers had completed the training to date resulting in improved evidence of how managers communicate change and deliver performance feedback.

Multicultural Apprenticeship Awards

We won employer of the year in the construction services category in 2023. These awards highlight the achievements of apprentices and the contribution of employers and learning providers who have assisted them along their journey.

Investors in People

Platinum accreditation of ‘we invest in apprentices’ awarded in 2021 for how we support our apprentices at work including development, communication and support.

Armed Forces Employers Recognition Scheme

In August 2019 HS2 was awarded the Armed Forces Employers Recognition Scheme – Gold Award in recognition of its commitment to supporting the Armed Forces Covenant. This was in recognition of having a distinct Reservist policy to allow service personnel to meet their training commitments, supporting serving personnel and their families transitioning out of the forces and advocating for the Covenant. We have pledged to honour the Forces Covenant and support the Armed Forces community. We recognise the value that Serving Personnel, both regular and reservists, veterans and military families contribute to our business and country.  To find out more about our pledge you can contact the HS2 veterans network by email.

CEEQUAL Exceptional Achievement Awards

CEEQUAL (Civil Engineering Environmental Quality) is an evidence-based sustainability assessment, rating and awards scheme for infrastructure projects. The Exceptional Achievement Awards (EAA) recognise exemplary outcomes of sustainability in civil engineering. HS2 has received the CEEQUAL EAA Director’s Corporate Award for our contributions to the development of the BREEAM Infrastructure Scheme (Pilot) and its ongoing input to CEEQUAL Version 6, which is the successor to the BREEAM Infrastructure Scheme (Pilot).

Disability Confident Leader

HS2 has gained recognition as a Level 3 Disability Confident Leader from the Department for Work & Pensions scheme. The Disability Confident scheme aims to help employers make the most of the opportunities provided by employing disabled people. It is voluntary and has been developed by employers and disabled people’s representatives.

Employers Network on Equality & Inclusion (enei)

Our membership of enei provides us with opportunities to collaborate across sectors on the best practice and benefit from solutions developed across the UK to issues such as Unconscious Bias and Inclusive Leadership.

MSDUK Inclusive Procurement Award

This award is to recognise a British public or private sector purchasing organisation outside of the Minority Supplier Development UK (MSDUK) network for their effort on an inclusive supply chain and engagement with ethnic minority and small businesses. MSDUK is the UK’s leading non-profit membership organisation driving inclusive procurement and supplier diversity.

WISE

HS2 is a member of the Women in Science and Engineering campaign. WISE assists its members via sharing best practice, tools and guidance and inspiring the next generation of talent. HS2 is a WISE 10 steps signatory and participates in a number of WISE initiatives.

Women in Rail Awards Top Employer
