Community and business funds

How will the funds support my community

Our Community and Environment Fund (CEF) and Business and Local Economy Fund (BLEF) support communities affected by the construction of HS2 between London and the West Midlands. These funds will provide up to £40 million in grants.

Funding to date

£20.38m of funding has now been awarded to 372 CEF and BLEF projects across the line of route.

What the funds support

Initiatives that may be funded through CEF and BLEF include:  

  • Health and wellbeing activities 
  • Nature conservation enhancement projects 
  • Enhancement or replacement of community, sports and recreational facilities 
  • Improved access and enhancements to public open spaces and public realm 
  • General promotional activity such as running ‘open for business’ campaigns 
  • Creating and running events that maintain or increase regular footfall, or promote business activity 
  • Projects that aim to maintain or increase tourism in an area

Who can apply

To be eligible to apply, an organisation must be formally established for public benefit and be not for profit.
