HS2 and the West Midlands development boom
HS2 is already boosting the West Midlands economy as we build the high-speed railway. We’re seeing major property development and investment near our new HS2 stations and depot in Birmingham and Solihull.
New landmarks are rising on local skylines. Improved transport connections and business confidence from HS2 are attracting developers. Since Parliament approved HS2 in 2017, the number and scale of planned developments within 1.5 miles of Curzon Street station, Interchange station and the Washwood Heath depot has increased dramatically.

HS2 boosts development since 2017
Development around HS2 locations far exceeds growth anywhere else. The new homes and offices near HS2 are creating thriving neighbourhoods and business centres.
These range from creative industries in Digbeth, Birmingham to completely new areas like Arden Cross, Solihull. Development is happening on a major scale.
These new places to live, work and visit will add £10 billion to the local economy over the next 10 years.
