Build the future safely – join our Health, Safety and Security team

Safe at heart, from design to delivery

The Health, Safety and Security (HSS) team sits within HS2’s Railway Directorate. We’re the guardians of our Safe at heart approach.

We work alongside teams across the programme to:

  • care for our people
  • protect our assets
  • set new benchmarks for safety across UK infrastructure

This is more than compliance. It’s about leadership, influence and making a real difference on one of the most complex railway programmes ever built.

Systems delivery

The HSS team supporting systems delivery plays a critical role. We make sure we comply with health and safety law and HS2 requirements through robust checks on processes and activities.

Our work includes:

  • embedding the HS2 Safe at Heart strategy across systems delivery
  • supporting Construction (Design and Management) Regulations (CDM) governance and assurance
  • monitoring incidents, health and safety performance and works information compliance
  • working with our supply chain to continuously improve outcomes

You’ll be part of a team that leads by example, challenges constructively and helps shape safer ways of working across the industry.
