According to specialist research, HS2 will drive a £10billion economic uplift in the West Midlands over the next 10 years. The impending arrival of HS2 in the West Midlands is already delivering a positive economic legacy, driven by the promise of enhanced connectivity and heightened investor confidence.

HS2 in the West Midlands: Delivering jobs, skills and contract opportunities across the region (2023)
The construction of HS2 in the West Midlands is well underway – years before the first trains run it is creating thousands of jobs and training courses for local people, and awarding billions of pounds worth of contracts to the region’s businesses.
In this region, work is progressing to prepare for two state-of-the-art stations – Birmingham Curzon Street and Interchange, and Washwood Heath Depot – the maintenance facility and control centre for the whole HS2 network. HS2, its partners and suppliers are also boring tunnels, and building bridges and viaducts at key locations across the region.
