Oxford Canal viaduct

The Oxford Canal Viaduct is located between Banbury and Daventry and is one of 15 viaducts and bridges across the central area of the HS2 route. It crosses the Oxford Canal, which is one of the oldest in Britain and was designed to bring coal from the Coventry coalfields to Oxford and the River Thames.

A45 overbridge

The new high-speed railway passes under the A45 Coventry Road as it approaches Interchange station in Solihull. This section of the A45 Coventry Road is near Bickenhill, between Stonebridge roundabout and M42 Junction 6.

We’re building the A45 overbridge in two sections. Preparatory works to build the eastbound section started in spring 2025 and we’ll complete it in early 2027. We’ll then build the westbound section from early 2027 until summer 2028.

To safely build the A45 overbridge, we’ll move traffic across the carriageways and put traffic management restrictions in place.
