Cross passage construction near Eastcote Lane, Northolt

What we are doing

From 20 January to 9 February 2025, we’ll be building a cross passage near Eastcote Lane North, Northolt. We’ll work 24 hours, seven days a week. During this time there will be periods of noisy works. To avoid overnight disturbance, we’ll limit noisy activities to between 7am and 10pm Monday to Friday, 7am to 6pm on Saturday and 10 am to 3pm on Sunday and carry out quieter works during the night.

Cross passages between the tunnels will allow HS2 passengers to get to a place of safety in an emergency, and are approximately 500 metres apart along the route. Cross passage construction involves breaking into the side of the completed tunnel. This might generate some noise and vibration which may be heard/felt as ground borne noise in nearby buildings when transmitted through the ground to the surface.

This cross passage is about 23 metres below ground and 20 metres away from the closest property.
