What we are doing

Work near Duddeston Mill Bridge from 05 February 2022 to 15 May 2022

We are writing to update you about the work we are carrying out between February and May 2022, to help prepare the way for HS2 at Saltley near Duddeston Mill Bridge, B7 4AD. A map and work timetable can be found in the appendix at the end of this letter to help you understand the work planned near your property.

Why we need to do this work:

We’re preparing for the HS2 track to be constructed at Saltley. To enable high speed services to run into the new Curzon Street station, we need to relocate some of the existing track side infrastructure such as the electrical switches and railway cables near Duddeston Mill Bridge.

When we need to do this work:

To keep our staff safe, we need to sometimes work at times that cause the least disruption to train services and passengers. This can mean carrying out work during weeknights and weekends. We will minimise disturbance to neighbours near Duddeston Mill Bridge as much as possible and our teams will be briefed on working considerately for our neighbours. Site inspections will be undertaken regularly to ensure best practice in controlling noise. Details of the dates and times for this work can be found below.

How this work may affect you:
Our works will remain within the railway boundary and consists of building under track crossings to enable cables to be diverted through it, removal of track and installation of foundation bases for electrical equipment. To limit disturbance, we have condensed the most disruptive work into our February blockade from the 19 to 28 February.

While we carry out this nine day blockade CrossCountry train services will take longer and bus replacements will be in place between Coleshill Parkway – Water Orton – Birmingham New Street. Line side neighbours who plan to travel on these train services during this time are advised to plan ahead at: www.crosscountrytrains.co.uk/waterorton2022

If any of our work changes at short notice, we’ll advise you asap via the HS2 website.
