What we are doing
In mid-October, we will be installing drainage ditches and ponds for our Waddesdon South Cutting. Our bulk earthworks for the cutting will start mid-November and will involve the excavation, movement and storage of earthworks.
We will be removing topsoil and moving the soil from one area to another, along the project route, to form embankments and stockpiles. EKFB will deploy full time tractors and bowsers to spray the whole route, to suppress any dust generation that may arise from the articulated dump trucks hauling the soil. All stockpiles will be sprayed and compacted to avoid having loose topsoil. Stockpiles will be seeded, irrigated and maintained to form a vegetation layer on top of long-term stockpiles.
Environmental advisors, construction supervisors and managers will undertake regular inspections to ensure that these measures are consistently in place. Works will also be closely monitored via the installation of noise monitoring equipment.
