What we are doing
UPDATE: NOVEMBER 2022
Working on behalf of HS2 Ltd, National Grid is legally required to move a number of overhead electricitylines, pylons and gas pipelines along the HS2 route to allow for the build and operation of the new railway.
As you’re aware, the new HS2 railway will pass above one of our existing gas pipelines at Great Haywood. To ensure the gas pipeline can continue to operate safely and reliably, we’ve had to divert itin two places.
We’ve excavated and removed the gas pipeline that was approximately 2.1km long, built new sections of pipeline along the route of the diversion and connected each end to the existing network. We’ve also reinstated the area where we’ve carried out work. However, the site establishment areas near the A51 and Hoo Mill Lane will remain in situ for future HS2 contractors.
I wanted to thank you for your patience while we’ve been in the area and let you know that we’ve now completed our work. Any traffic management we introduced while we carried out our work has now been lifted.
