What we are doing
Align are currently carrying out earthworks in this area to create a deep cutting for the railway.As part of these works Align also need to realign the temporary site access road (SAR) to allow the structural cutting earthworks to continue into the 2026 earthworks season. PRoW GMI/2 interfaces directly with
this section of works. This will result in the interface point becoming a live construction area containing large earthworks machinery and vehicles.
What to expect
Temporarily close GMI/2 and divert pedestrians via the existing PRoW GMI/13 diversion and Frith Hill to access Potters Row.
HS2 is undergoing a comprehensive reset to ensure it can be built efficiently and for the lowest reasonable cost. This work is being carried out in stages and will be completed in 2026. We will provide you with updates on the reset and what this means for our plans to build the railway in your area.
