What we are doing
To encourage water bird nesting opportunities, we will be installing five new bird islands for terns, gulls and waterfowl at Broadwater Lake. These birds nest in poorly vegetated areas close to the edge of water, and adapt to artificial nesting areas such as floating rafts.
Works will begin on Monday 1 December and will be completed by Friday 12 December 2025.
The works will require a small number of operatives with a tipper truck and forklift using the access road to Broadwater Lake from Moorhall Road during daytime hours. The road will remain open to users at all times. These works are weather dependent, so dates may need to change.
HS2 is undergoing a comprehensive reset to ensure it can be built efficiently and for the lowest reasonable cost. This work is being carried out in stages and will be completed in 2026. We will provide you with updates on the reset and what this means for our plans to build the railway in your area.
