What we are doing
Further to our correspondence in June, demolition works of the A47 Heartlands Parkway Bridge started over the weekend of 14 August and is expected to complete on 6 September. We are demolishing the bridge as it is no longer in use and does not have enough headroom to allow the new HS2 trains to run underneath it.
To allow us to work safely as we demolish the bridge, we will need to close a section of the Network Rail line. To minimise the time that we need to close the railway line our demolition works will be carried out 24 hours a day over the next three weekends. - 28-31 August (August Bank Holiday Weekend including Bank Holiday Monday) and
- 4-6 September.
