HS2 Works Notification: Closure of Main Street, Chetwode

What we are doing

As part of our continued preparatory works for our internal haul and access roads we will need to fully close a section of Main Street for approximately one week, with a local diversion route in place. As the preparatory works will require large plant and machinery and time for concrete to set, we are required to fully close these sections of road, 24 hours a day, until they are complete. This is for the safety of road users and our staff.

These works will involve the construction of the haul and access road slab crossing points as well as the construction of a passing bay that will be needed to operate the crossing.

A section of Main Street will be fully closed, 24 hours a day, from Monday 6 December to Sunday 12 December, with a local diversion route in place. We will work to reopen the roads as soon as possible. Should there be delays to our works, the contingency dates for this closure are Monday 13 December to Sunday 19 December.

In late January, this section of Main Street will also be fully closed for approximately two days for asphalting works.

Once the crossing point is created, the roads will then be reopened, with gates in place to keep local traffic separated from construction traffic. All plant crossings, without exception, will be signal controlled.
