What we are doing
Protection of utility asset works for ARLT
We are providing protection from expected ground movement to utilities assets during the construction of the Atlas Road Logistics Tunnel (ARLT) which will convey spoil from Victoria Road to the Atlas Road compound.
We will be digging temporary trenches in and around the Atlas Road Roundabout. The works will include the installation of replacement water and gas mains. We might use a vacuum excavator, which is a safer and faster way of working within road space that is heavily congested as it sucks up material to expose buried utility services without risk of damaging the cables or pipework below. This is a noisier method, and we erect acoustic barriers around the machine, however a lot of the
noise would be sent vertically, when the machine is running which will reduce noise disruption. We apologise in advance for any inconvenience this might cause.
Utility supplies and other services will not be affected by these works.
Old Oak Lane to Atlas Road Roundabout, 27 October– Mid-November 2021
These works will be carried out from 27 October, over a two week period. Work will be carried out in Old Oak Lane on the southbound carriageway. A four-way traffic light system will be in place on Victoria Road, Atlas Road, Old Oak Common Lane, and Old Oak Lane with a priority system to maintain traffic flow. Additional variable message signs (VMS) have been strategically placed to help drivers make early decisions to avoid the area.
