What we are doing
Ongoing works at the Victoria Road Crossover Box and Flat Iron sites
Works are continuing to progress in the Crossover Box site to build a ventilation shaft and prepare for future construction of the crossover box below ground.
Ongoing works until the end of January 2022 include:
• Shaft construction including the construction of the base slab within the shaft (Crossover Box site)
• Construction of the diaphragm wall (supportive ground wall) and working platforms (Crossover Box site)
• Completion of the piling
• Start of excavation works to build the crossover box (Crossover Box site)
• Installation of foundations and towers for the conveyor system (Flat Iron site)
• Installation of materials lab (Flat Iron site)
Please note that some works relating to the shaft construction and the construction of the diaphragm wall occur during our extended working hours at the Victoria Road Crossover Box site.
These hours are from Monday 7am to Saturday 6pm until March 2022. All other work will commence during our core hours of 8am to 6pm Monday to Friday and 8am to 1pm on Saturday.
Ongoing works at Atlas Road site
Works are continuing to prepare the Atlas Road site for future works to build the logistics tunnel, the conveyor system and storage of the tunnel segments
Ongoing works until the end of January 2022 include:
• Pile trimming and capping
• Building a working platform on top of the piles to create a stable working platform for futures works to build the logistics tunnel
• Start of excavation and concrete works to build the launch ramp for the Atlas Road Logistics Tunnel
• Building the tunnel segment storage areas and gantry crane foundations
• Installation of foundations and towers for the conveyor system
• Onsite utility connections
• Completion of site drainage system
Ongoing works at Willesden Euroterminal site
Rail terminal operations are continuing at the Willesden Euroterminal site to remove excavated materials from the local area by rail. We are also receiving excavated materials by rail from other HS2 sites in the local area.
Ongoing works at the Willesden Euroterminal site until the end of January 2022 include:
• Train departures will continue to take place 24/7 to align with the freight rail timetable
• Up to two trains movements per day for the remainder of 2021 – we will keep residents updated about the number of train movements in 2022
• Regular maintenance and greasing schedule on the railway track every month (and as required). Additional greasing guns will be installed on the tracks in November 2021 (these have been on order and are expected to arrive by the end of October for installation). This date may change
• Installation of foundations and towers for the conveyor system
• Installation of tunnel segment storage areas
Installation of conveyor crossing over the Grand Union Canal and continued foundation works
We will be installing the conveyor crossing over the Grand Union Canal from 1 to 5 November 2021, connecting the Atlas Road and Willesden Euroterminal sites.
To carry out these works safely, temporary changes will be in place on the canal while we lift the crossing into place. Further information about these works has been provided to local residents and canal users and can be viewed at www.hs2.org.uk/in-your-area/map/
We will also be continuing works until early 2022 to install the convey foundations and towers to support the conveyor system at all sites in the local area. These works include Installation of pre-fabricated structures and concrete pours.
A map showing the location of the works to install the conveyor foundations and crossings is included on the next page.
Indicative traffic management programme – SCSJV
As part of works to prepare sites for future works and the construction of the new railway we will be carrying out a series of work on local roads.
These works include:
• Utility works on Chase Road – planned from November 2021
• Utility works on Victoria Road – planned from early 2022

What to expect
During the works outlined in this update you may notice one or a few of the following within our sites:
• Heavy goods vehicles
• Excavators
• Cranes
• Lighting towers
• Concreting equipment
• Temporary traffic management and signage
Reducing disruption to you
We will continue to monitor noise, dust and vibration in line with the HS2 Code of Construction Practice. Other measures in place to reduce disruption to our neighbours include:
• Additional attending monitoring
• Operation of wheel washes to clean vehicle wheels as they depart site
• Dust suppression sprays on works and site roads including water bowsers during hot and dry weather
• Use off noise reducing blankets where possible
• Covering of material, deliveries or loads entering and leaving sites
• Monitoring of working methods to ensure minimal disruption is caused
