What we are doing
As part of our continued works in Quainton, we constructed the Quainton Railhead in September 2022. This new railway platform will receive upwards of 3 million tonnes of material over the course of 3 years and will help take approximately 260,000 deliveries off the local road network. These deliveries service Calvert North and the Thame Valley Viaduct in the South.
For reasons of safety, we have closed section of Station Road. This closure is to facilitate the construction of the railhead, the movement of aggregate between Quainton and Calvert North as well as junction improvement works to the Quainton cross roads.
In order to keep the closure of Station Road to one year, we are working collaboratively with Network Rail, co-ordinating their repairs for the Station Road Bridge with our closure of Station Road. This will help us minimise the time that the Station Road closure is in place but may include the temporary closure of Fiddlers Field in Autumn 2023. Once further details can be confirmed we will update communities.
Quainton Railhead began receiving deliveries between 8am – 6pm from Monday 3 October 2022 and these will continue through to 2025.
A section of Station Road is fully closed, 24 hours a day, from September 2022 to Autumn 2023 with a diversion in place.
