HS2 Works Notification: Road closures on Banbury Road and Sulgrave Road, Thorpe Mandeville

What we are doing

We will be undertaking two pieces of work in June, in the Thorpe Mandeville area.

In early June, we will be installing two drainage pipes across Banbury Road in Thorpe Mandeville, which will require a temporary closure of the road for one week. The closure area will be between Bulls Lane and Magpie Junction and will require the road to be closed 24 hours per day until the work is complete. This is for the safety of road users and our staff because the road is too narrow for the work to be completed using traffic lights.

In mid-June, we will be creating a crossing area where our internal haul and access roads cross the highway on Sulgrave Road. In order to protect the road and any utilities underneath, we first need to create a strengthened surface at the crossing area using concrete. It will also be necessary to remove localised areas of vegetation to access to areas of the site. Once our crossing areas are fully installed, they will safely manage the flow of construction traffic crossing the highway. In order to complete the crossing point, we will need to fully close Sulgrave Road from Welsh Lane to Magpie Junction. This closure will be 24 hours per day, until the work is complete.

Banbury Road will be fully closed, 24 hours a day, from Monday 6 June to Sunday 12 June 2022 with a diversion route in place.

Sulgrave Road will be fully closed, 24 hours a day, from Monday 20 June to Sunday 10 July 2022 with a diversion route in place, subject to consent.
