What we are doing
Copthall Tunnel is an 880m cut and cover tunnel between the Colne Valley Viaduct and Northolt Tunnel. It consists of two portal ends and five natural ventilation openings, each between 15 and 17 metres high. Our focus in 2025 will be to pour the two remaining roof slabs and construct the last ventilation shaft.
The earthworks at Northern Sustainable Placement Area (NSPA) were completed in late summer 2024, and we have made good progress landscaping the area. We have seeded most of the mounds and have now planted approximately 45,000 trees across the site. We are preparing for the next planting season in 2025-26, which will see a further 65,000 trees planted.
We produce maps showing key site activities in the Harvil Road, Copthall area and the NSPA, view details via the pdf document below.
These maps will be updated on a weekly basis.
