Mandeville Road site concrete pours in March and April 2024

What we are doing

We wrote to you on 15 March 2024 to let you know that deliveries to Mandeville Road Ventilation Shaft site would occur more regularly to enable continuous concrete pours into the main and satellite shafts.

Due to delays with preceding works, the dates for future concrete pours have changed. We’ll undertake one more pour in April, which will occur on 29 April. We’ll have an additional six pours in May. These dates are yet to be confirmed and are subject to change. We will provide updates each week when dates have been confirmed.

Mass concrete pours can take around 16-20 hours. We expect all the pours to start at 6am but will have varied finish times. The concrete pours must be uninterrupted in order to maintain the structural integrity of the ventilation shaft walls.

There will be a delivery of machinery between 4am and 5am each day, ready for a 6am start. The machinery will be removed once the concrete pour is complete. We will close Mandeville Road for about 15 minutes so that we can reverse a lorry out of the site to remove the machinery.

While on-site work is not expected to cause additional disruption, more delivery vehicles will be present due to the quantity of concrete that is required. Traffic Marshals will guide delivery vehicles as usual. Noise and vibration monitoring will continue, with extra noise suppression if needed.

We would like to apologise for any disruption or inconvenience this may cause. Every effort is being taken to ensure that these works are carried out in the least impactful way.
