What we are doing

Update on work to take the Old Oak Common depot out of use & prepare for the new Old Oak Common Station October 2021 – December 2021

Back in June we let you know about our work between July and December to change the existing rail network to make way for the new interchange station at Old Oak Common.

We’ve been putting in new drainage near the eastern side of the Heathrow Express depot and while working we uncovered more old pipes that need to be replaced. Therefore, we’ll be working there for longer than initially planned, and further towards the western side, from the 22 November 2021 to 28 January 2022.

To do this we’re (Monday to Friday during day-time hours only between 0800 and 18.00):
• putting up a small temporary compound for our staff which will be complete by the 19 November. This is near the eastern side of the Heathrow Express depot
• demolishing existing carriage wash building on the western side will need to be demolished between the 22 November and 17 December.

We’d also like to remind you of our noisy work as planned. We’ll be breaking out concrete for a new road rail access point to allow machines onto the railway to realign the tracks. Due to the nature of this work some noise is unavoidable, especially as we need to work at night for safety when the tracks are not electrified. To limit disruption as much as possible we’ve condensed this work overnight on Saturday nights of the 20 November from 2300 to 0900 and on 27 November from 2300 to 0900 .

We hope this work will not cause you too much disturbance. We have tried to minimise impact from our work wherever we can and our teams have been briefed to work considerately in the area.

We will also be carrying out noise monitoring and we will work to reduce any unnecessary disruption as much as possible.
