What we are doing
Update: This works have been completed, however one parking bay will remain suspended until 20 February, to allow space for the monitoring to take place. There is a slight narrowing of the lane around the suspended bay.
In order to support the construction of the new HS2 tunnels, we need to carry out groundwater monitoring along the line of route.
From 13 to 20 January we need to dig a new groundwater monitoring borehole on Alperton Lane, before the tunnel boring machine passes through the area.
We will break the ground using a circular saw and remove waste using a vacuum excavator. A rod will be placed in the borehole, and the hole will then be sealed with a secure cover. We will return at intervals to lift the cover and take readings.
We will need to close a lane and footpath throughout the works, and also suspend some parking bays. We will use temporary traffic lights to control traffic on Alperton Lane, including access to London Auto Parts. We will maintain access to properties. Pedestrian diversions will be in place. Staff will be on site 24 hours a day to monitor the temporary
traffic lights.
You may hear additional noise while the ground is being broken. We will use noise reducing barriers where possible. You may see staff return at intervals to carry out monitoring.
