What we are doing
Work is ongoing at our Gate 2 site on Harvil Road to build the Copthall tunnel. The area is located between Harvil Road and Breakspear Road South, north of the existing Chiltern Line.
The Copthall tunnel will be constructed using the cut and cover technique. This technique includes:
• excavation
• construction of the tunnel structure
• cover/backfill the tunnel with earth excavated from the two tunnels at West Ruislip Portal.
From 18 March to 30 November 2024, we will be undertaking night work on site from 7pm to 7am, seven days a week. We will be moving the earth excavated from the two tunnels at West Ruislip Portal to its final location within the Copthall tunnel in preparation for the backfill of the tunnel.
We will only carry out activities agreed with the London Borough of Hillingdon and will adhere to the agreed working hours, noise and vibration limits.
We would like to apologise in advance for any disruption or inconvenience this may cause. Every effort is being taken to ensure that these works are carried out in the least impactful way. We will ensure that disruption is kept to a minimum.
