During this period, a section of the A446 Lichfield Road east of Water Orton will be closed in both directions.
Overnight Closures:
The road will be closed overnight between21:00 and 06:00 on the dates listed below.Some closures are contingency dates,meaning they will only be used if required due to weather conditions or delays to the work.

What we are doing
Installing the segments of Water Orton Viaducts 1 and 2 over the carriageway and footway of the A446 Lichfield Road, including lifting concrete sections into place from a crane.
What to expect
• Full 7-day road closure (reduced from the 10-day closure previously communicated).
• The work will be carried out in continuous day and night shifts, operating 24/7 during the
7-day closure period, to ensure completion in the shortest possible time.
• Two subsequent overnight closures as detailed above.
• Access for pedestrians and cyclists will remain in place throughout the road closure.
• Access to businesses and residents will remain throughout the road closure.
• Bus routes will be diverted accordingly; check bus company website for more information.
• Updates on any changes will be communicated in advance.
HS2 is undergoing a comprehensive reset to ensure it can be built efficiently and for the lowest reasonable cost. This work is being carried out in stages and will be completed in 2026. We will provide you with updates on the reset and what this means for our plans to build the railway in your area.
