What we are doing.
We will shortly commence installation of a dewatering system to facilitate the construction of the West Ruislip Portal. The system will reduce the water pressure in the ground underlying the structure we are building. This will enable the portal area to be excavated safely so that the concrete structures can be built to resist the water pressure in the area.
We have been given consent by the Environment Agency for these works.
The works will involve the drilling of small boreholes in the ground into the water bearing layers to pump the water out. The water will be treated and pumped back into the water bearing layers adjacent to Oak Farm/Breakspear Road South. A small volume of water will also be discharged into the River Pinn.
