What we are doing
High Speed Two (HS2) is the new high speed railway for Britain. We previously wrote to you about works taking place along Old Oak Common Lane and the current lane closure. This is an update notice about works to power cables that involve extending working hours and piling works.
Installation of Concrete Piles
The following works will be undertaken during extended hours along the east side embankment on Old Oak Common Lane:
- Disconnecting a section of the high voltage SSEN (Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks) cables which are close to the worksite,
- Preparatory works for piling operations including lowering of cables,
- Installation of concrete piles via continuous flight auger piling, which goes into the ground like a corkscrew.
Due to their proximity to the worksite, the cables will be disconnected outside normal working hours, so that the piling works to take place safely. There will be no disruption to power supply for local residents and we expect noise and vibration to be minimum as the works are located approximately 100m away from the nearest residential building.
The works will be carried on:
- Saturday 15 April from 1pm to 6pm
- Friday 21 April from 6pm to 9pm
- Saturday 22 April from 1pm to 6pm
Works may also be required on Friday 28 April (6pm – 9pm) and Saturday 29 April (from 1pm – 6pm) but this is for contingency in the event an issue may arise on the above dates.
The work will be undertaken between the section shown on the map
