What we are doing
We will be carrying out Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) surveys in locations along Northumberland Street and Viaduct Street on Monday 2 August, dates are subject to the progress of the surveys programme.
GPR surveys are non-intrusive, they are completed using a machine which transmits an electromagnetic pulse into the ground. These pulses reflect off features in the ground, allowing us to identify the location and depth of buried utility services.
To be able to carry out these inspections safely and effectively, we will need to put in place a road closure along sections of Northumberland Street and Viaduct Street. The closure will be in place from 9.30am to 3.30pm. Although there is no diversion route in place access to properties and businesses will be maintained at all times.
