What we are doing
Balfour Beatty VINCI (BBV) is working in partnership with HS2 Ltd to build the new high speed railway in your area.
Preparations for main construction work on HS2 are now well underway. As part of developing the route design of the HS2 railway, we have been carrying out ground investigation (GI) surveys since 2018 and these surveys will now continue throughout 2020 and 2021.
Work will we be completing
We will be undertaking several different types of surveys:
- Ground Investigation
- Trial holes
- Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) surveys for utility location identification
- Topographical surveys to check existing ground levels
- Surveys of water bodies where structures will be built
The surveys listed above are short-term activities and will take a varying amount of time to complete. To complete the surveys, we will be required to work in different locations along the line of the route. Our teams will be completing GI surveys operating from our main compound locations. The teams then travel to work locations as necessary.

The surveys will be taking place in locations across the planned route within Solihull.
