What we are doing
Low level vegetation clearance along the North London Line
From midnight on Friday 4 March to 6am on Saturday 5 March we will be clearing low level vegetation along the North London Line (please see map on page 2). The vegetation is being cleared to facilitate clear access to monitoring equipment installed along the North London Line, to monitor ground movement during works at the Old Oak Common Station site.
All work will be carried out under the watching brief of an ecologist. The low-level ground vegetation will be removed with handheld strimmers, chainsaws, hedge cutters and other hand tools, and will be removed in stages to allow any reptiles that may be present to move away from the work areas into suitable adjacent habitat. Suitable reptile hibernation habitats will not be impacted during these works. Final ecological surveys will be completed prior to the start of the works, and any significant changes to the planned works will be updated via the HS2 website.
The proposed vegetation is near the tracks and therefore can only be cleared at night, between midnight and 6am, when there is minimal train activity. Localised lighting will be utilised and positioned away from residential properties to minimise disturbance. All clearance works are expected to be completed by Saturday 5 March.
