What we are doing
Haul roads are temporary roads provided within a working area to allow for the movement of construction materials, construction machinery and/or construction staff around the site. Haul roads are Balfour Beatty Vinci’s preferred logistical transport link, as they reduce the number of vehicle movements interfering with the existing local road network and provide the greatest possible control over works activity.
Since 2021 BBV have been operating an internal haul road from the Aston Martin roundabout off the Kenilworth Road heading south along the HS2 Line of route, concluding at the West Coast Main Line where a permanent bridge over the railway will be built. Once this bridge is built, we can use it to further extend the haul road continuously from the A452 to Burton Green.
We are pleased to inform you that this summer we will be opening our new haul road entrance off the Hallmeadow Road Roundabout in
Balsall Common. Our vehicles will utilise the Hallmeadow Road route to bring materials to our work site allowing greater construction progress, as a dedicated haul route to the south of the West Coast Mainline to build up the embankment for the new bridge and to take materials to the Burton Green Tunnel.
You may be aware that the existing access to the Kenilworth Greenway is flooded and has been unpassable for many years. We are delighted to inform you that we have been able to incorporate a new temporary footpath alongside the haul road connecting Station Road to the temporary Greenway.
