What we are doing
To facilitate the construction of the new HS2 Carol Green Bridge that will cross the West Coast Main Line, it is necessary to continue the works lowering the existing overhead power lines. This work will take place overnight during railway possessions on 11 consecutive Saturday nights from 21 August to 30 October. Our working hours will be from midnight to 7am. Our workforce maybe on site one hour before and one hour after to set up and secure our equipment.
This work will now continue during railway possessions as required on Saturday nights from 6 November through to 18 December. The replacement of the overhead power lines will then be installed during the Christmas rail closure from midnight on Christmas Eve through to 4.30am on the 27 December.
**Update**
Progress on the bridge is limited by the constraints of working near an operational railway line and there are some works that can only be completed when the railway is closed overnight. From 14 January 2024 until 5 May 2024 our operatives will be using a crane to lift precast beams on to the structure on Saturday nights into the early hours of Sunday morning. We don’t envisage this work to be particularly noisy but there will be some site activity requiring lighting at night. The beams will be delivered during the day via our haul road access off Hallmeadow Road roundabout.
