Notice of operation of concrete batching plant – Washwood Heath

What we are doing

The set-up of the concrete batching plant at HS2’s Washwood Heath Depot site is now coming to an end. We now expect to start operating the batching plant in mid-October.

Once operational the batching plant will produce the concrete for all BBV sites in Birmingham. Delivery of concrete will usually be between the core working hours of Monday – Friday 8am to 6pm or Saturday 8am – 1pm. Deliveries will access the site via our Wolesley Drive entrance. However due to the size of the structures that we are constructing it is anticipated that some of the concrete activities from will need to take place outside of core working hours.

The batching plant will also provide facilities to wash out any residual concrete from the mixer lorries. We will use a reclaimer system for this process which will allow us to reuse all the residual concrete and the process water to create more concrete. This means we will not be discharging any water during this process.

We will also continue to monitor and control the levels of noise, vibrations and dust during our on-site operations.
