Notice of overnight closures on the A5 Hints Bypass

What we are doing

We will be commencing construction of the A5 Overbridge that will allow HS2 to pass under the A5. To minimise the impact on road users, while we construct the bridge, we are creating a temporary diversion on land next to the A5. Once completed we will divert traffic onto the new temporary road which will minimise future disruption and closures of the A5.

To ensure the safety of road users we will be installing speed cameras on the A5 Hints Bypass.
To install the speed cameras, we will have overnight closure on the:
• A5 Eastbound carriageway from Tuesday 2 May to Friday 5 May 2023 between 9pm to 5am.
• A5 Westbound carriageway from Monday 15 May to Thursday 18 May between 9pm to 5am.
Our workforce may be on-site up to one hour before and after to set up and secure our equipment.
Following these works we will install speed reduction signage and connect the new diversion to the existing road surface. This will require lane closures on the A5 and once completed will allow us to open and divert traffic onto the new temporary diversion.
