Notice of pipeline diversion works north of Curborough, Lichfield

What we are doing

To allow for the construction of the new railway and to continue to ensure a safe and reliable gas supply, Cadent will be moving an underground gas pipeline off Wood End Lane, north of Curborough. We expect to complete all our work by the end of 2021.

What we are doing

Before we start the main work to move the pipeline, we need to carry out some preparation works on land north of Wood End Lane for around three weeks from 1 March 2021. The works involve:

Removal of some vegetation on land north of Wood End Lane. Appropriate ecological surveys will be undertaken before any vegetation
clearance. Our ecologist will be present throughout the activity to ensure there is no disruption to local wildlife.

Enhancing our site access off Wood End Lane (see map in downloadable notification). We will also be using temporary traffic lights on a section of Wood End Lane so we can prepare the site access safely. This has been discussed and agreed with Staffordshire County Council. We will keep local people up to date as we progress to main diversion works.

How will this affect you?

The temporary traffic lights on a section of Wood End Lane will only be used occasionally and wherever possible, outside of peak traffic times. Signs will be in place to make road users aware. While we are on-site, we’ll need to close the footpath that runs north of
Wood End Lane during the usual HS2 working hours. We’ll ensure it’s safe to use at other times by fencing this off from our access and working area. We apologise for any inconvenience that the footpath closure may cause.
