What we are doing

UPDATE

We previously contacted you to advise that Diddington Lane would be closed from 13 May until 7 June. Unfortunately work had to be suspended as a result of the recent flooding in the area and a further week will be required to complete the work. It is now proposed to reopen the road at 6pm on 15 June.

To create a continuous haul road, we will need to create two controlled crossings on Diddington Lane, these are known as a plant crossing. In order to do this safely and efficiently we will need to close Didington Lane for four weeks from 8am on 13 May until 6pm on 15 June. The road will be closed all day and all night, but we will only work during our normal operating hours of 8am until 6pm. These works will include the removal of the hedges either side of the crossing, the reinforcement of the road surface and the introduction of traffic lights, the hedgerow will be reinstated when the plant crossing is no longer required.

The new railway is being constructed to the northeast of Hampton-in-Arden, crossing Meriden Road and the River Blythe on a viaduct, in a cutting under Diddington Lane and under a bridge below the A45 Coventry Road.

To facilitate this construction activity, we are extending our haul road. haul roads are temporary roads provided within a working area to allow for the movement of construction materials, construction machinery and/or construction staff around work sites.
Haul roads are Balfour Beatty Vinci’s preferred logistical transport link as they reduce the number of vehicles interfering with the existing road network and provide the most effective, efficient and safe possible control over essential operational works.
