What we are doing
A section of Wardington Road in Edgcote, which is the lane from Trafford Bridge to Wardington Village, near Chipping Warden, will be closed for approximately one month from 5 February 2024.
As part of the Edgcote Viaduct construction, a section of Wardington Road will be re-graded. This involves changing the height of the road under the viaduct. The first phase of the work will include installing crash barriers. These are required for the safety, as the road passes close to our viaduct construction area.
We will also be reinforcing some of our earthworks near Wardington Road using a support method called sheet piling. This involves driving interlocking metal sheets into the ground to create a strong retaining wall. A small increase in noise may be experienced while this work is carried out, however we are using piling methods that reduce the noise impacts wherever possible.
Construction of the Edgcote viaduct is already underway and will continue throughout 2024. We will maintain access along Wardington Road wherever possible, however further road closures will be required later in 2024. We will be in touch with further updates and details as the construction continues.
When will these works take place?
A section of Wardington Road will be fully closed 24-hours a day from, Monday 5 February to 3 March 2024
