What we are doing
We have recently been working alongside the carriageways on the A4421 and the A421. We will shortly be constructing highway tie ins to connect new sections of road and the newly built bridges.
The construction of the new highway will mean some utilities will need to be moved and reinstalled. To be able to carry this out safely a series of road closures will happen, on the A421 and the A4421.
These works are essential to safely open the new section of road later this year. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause and thank you for your patience while we complete this work.
To reduce impact, the A421 and the A4421 will not be closed at the same time. Our aim is to keep closures at weekends where possible.
Where possible, we will keep the road open and reduce full road closures to temporary traffic lights. Signage on the road will indicate the changes. We have installed a traffic lights system to enhance the control of traffic flow through our works sites on the A421 & A4421.
HS2 is undergoing a comprehensive reset to ensure it can be built efficiently and for the lowest reasonable cost. This work is being carried out in stages and will be completed in 2026. We will provide you with updates on the reset and what this means for our plans to build the railway in your area.
