What we are doing
HS2 Ltd is proposing to make changes to the junction of the A515 and Wood End Lane, with further widening to Wood End Lane. This is to improve traffic flows during the construction of HS2. To design the changes, Balfour Beatty has been carrying out surveys during late-2021 and early-2022.
These have progressed well; we now need to carry out some additional utility surveys along the A515. We decided to wait until we completed our previous surveys before starting this work as we didn’t want to cause
additional disruption in a small area.
The work will involve some digging using a vacuum excavator. To carry out this work safely, we will put temporary traffic lights in place rather than closing the road. This will limit disruption to residents and businesses.
This will generate some noise, but it will not be persistent throughout the whole time.
While we are on site, we will also be doing some nearby topographical surveys in the field to the North of Vicars Coppice. You may see people walking in this area but there will be no additional impact on the journeys of residents or businesses due to this work.
How will this affect you?
While there may be some low-level noise, we will aim to minimise the disruption to the local community by installing sound barriers around the perimeter of excavation equipment to reduce noise levels. The work will not affect access to residential properties.
