Updated: notice of survey works at Wood End Lane, Lichfield

What we are doing

HS2 Ltd is proposing changes to the junction of the A515 and Wood End Lane, with further widening to Wood End Lane itself. This is to improve traffic flows during the construction of HS2. To help design the changes to the highway, Balfour Beatty will carry out various surveys and ground investigation works starting in late-September. Initially, we will work in the fields surrounding Wood End Lane between the A515 junction and the junction with Watery Lane. This work will involve non-intrusive walkover surveys to collect environmental data.

Following this, we will begin some intrusive surveys in the fields along the A515. These will involve some trial pit excavation and drilling.

During October and November, we will carry out both non-intrusive and intrusive work at the A515/Wood End Lane junction. We will need to put some traffic management measures in place to carry out this work safely. We will provide further information about this work once we have finalised the details. When planning this work, we will work hard to reduce the impact on residents and stakeholders

Update: due to unforeseen circumstances we now need to extend the work by a few weeks. We will now complete the planned surveys in December 2021.
