What we are doing

We will be carrying out ground penetrating surveys to help us identify the location of buried utility services, such as gas, electric or water. These surveys are non-intrusive, we will use a machine that transmits an electromagnetic pulse into the ground. These pulses reflect off features in the ground, allowing us to collect data and to understand the depth of the buried utility services in Hopton, along the A513 Beaconside, B5066 Sandon Road and Hydrant Way.

Along with ground penetrating surveys, we will carry out several other surveys. For the safety of both our workforce and motorists, this work will require temporary overnight traffic lights on the A513 Beaconside, B5066 Sandon Road and Hydrant Way.

When the work work take place

We will start the ground penetrating survey work on Tuesday 30 November to Friday 3 December. Once this is complete, we will return in the new year to carry out additional surveys. To do this safely, we will need to use temporary traffic lights. We will send a further update about this work closer to the time. Please note that all our planned roadworks may be subject to change due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances.

How this will affect your journey

From Tuesday 30 November to Friday 3 December, we will carry out the ground penetrating radar work using a vehicle pulling along a machine, causing little impact on motorists. Please be aware you may need to overtake the vehicle when safe to do so.
