What we are doing
Thames Water update
Thames Water will install a protective tunnel lining to an existing raw water tunnel, to provide added structural stability during future underground HS2 works.
The main worksite is within the reservoir site located on St Edmund’s Terrace, Camden, with a section of the site extending on to the public highway in St Edmund’s Terrace. A second site is needed for emergency access only on Grafton Crescent, please follow this link for details.
Our work
This work commenced from Monday 20 November 2023 to Wednesday 22 May 2024. Further to the notice issued in November 2023, we would like to draw your attention to a change of working hours. We will start working on Saturdays from Saturday 3 February 2024, and our working hours will be 8am – 1pm with an hour each side of this for setting up and down.
We don’t expect the works to be noisy, as they will be mostly underground. All noise created from the works will be monitored as standard practice.
St Edmund’s Terrace
We will be working in the shaft on Barrow Hill, and there will be a one lane closure on St Edmund’s Terrace junction with Wells Rise. Three-way traffic will be kept at all times with the use of traffic lights at the junction between St. Edmund’s Terrace and Wells Rise to reduce the impact the works have on residents. The footpath adjacent to the side of the road will be closed, and a temporary crossing will be installed to allow pedestrians to cross to the other side of the road. The works will all be within the Thames Water Compound and no bus routes, bus stops, and pedestrian and cycle paths will be affected.
No property access will be impeded by any of our works.
