Notice of traffic management on Gilson Road, Coleshill

What we are doing

To continue our preparation for the construction of the HS2 railway, we will be carrying out works along Gilson Road. The works include piling, drainage, completing work at the site access and preparing for the construction of the pier. The pier will form part of the Water Orton viaduct structure over the M42, Gilson Road and A446 Lichfield Road. Within these works, we will also create a plant crossing along Gilson Road.

To ensure the safety of our workforce and road users, we will be installing traffic management on Gilson Road from September 2023 to March 2024.

See below a breakdown of these works:

Completing work at the site access point- traffic lights will be in place at this location, 24/7, from Monday 18 September to Saturday 23 September. Our working hours are from 8am to 6pm each day.

Haul road access for plant crossing- our working hours and traffic lights will be in place at this location from 9:30 to 3:30, Monday 18 September to Friday 29 September. Once the access is created, a plant crossing will be installed over Gilson Road.
The plant crossing will operate from Friday 29 September and will be controlled by traffic lights, giving priority to Gilson Road vehicles. The plant crossing will operate Monday to Fridays, 7am to 7pm and Saturdays, 8am to 4pm.

Installing traffic management- a road closure will be in place at this location, overnight from 9pm to 5am, Sunday 24 September to Monday 25 September.

Construction of the pier- Once the road has re-opened there will be traffic lights in place, 24/7 and the road will be narrowed to one lane, until March 2024. Our working hours will be from 8am to 6pm each day.
