Update- Notice of traffic management on Watling Street, Hints

What we are doing

We will be commencing the construction of Watling Street overbridge that will allow HS2 to pass under Watling Street. To minimise the impact on road users, while we construct the bridge, we will build a temporary diversion, on land next to Watling Street. Once completed we will divert traffic onto the new temporary road which will minimise future disruption and closures of Watling Street.

The phasing of these works has been changed as below:

Phase 1 – Completing utility works for the temporary road diversion.
We have installed temporary traffic lights, on Watling Street, from Monday 3 April to Friday 28 April 2023. During the first week the traffic lights will be in place from 8am to 6pm. Following this the traffic lights will be in place 24 hours a day until Friday 28 April 2023.
Phase 2 – Completing the connections and opening the new temporary Watling Street diversion.

This work will now be undertaken in Summer 2023. We will share an update once the dates have been confirmed.
