What we are doing

Since February 2024, we have been carrying out some works on the temporary gas main diversion by completing gas trial holes. These works are being completed under 4-way lights.

To carry out these works safely and effectively, there are traffic lights at the crossroads of Steeple Claydon Road, Twyford Road, West Street and Gawcott Road. These works are an important step towards the realignment of Gawcott Road/Perry Hill over the new bridge, currently under construction.

Update -April 2024
Due to unforeseen circumstances, the gas main we have excavated and exposed at the crossroads requires specialist engineering works which include taking samples of the gas main. These samples are planned to take place on 22-23 April. In the meantime, the team will carry out daily checks and ensure water is continuously pumped from the excavation. We therefore need to keep the lights in place for an extended period, until Sunday 5 May.

The current gas works are planned to be completed by Sunday 28 April. We will then move to the opposite side of the carriage on Monday 29 April until Sunday 5 May to complete water trial holes, before we remove the lights

When will these works take place?
Steeple Claydon Road, Twyford Road, West Street and Gawcott Road crossroads will be under traffic management from Monday 5 February until Sunday 5 May 2024 near to the EKFB compound.

These dates may be subject to change due to circumstances outside of our control, such as weather.
