What we are doing
Upcoming utility surveys
We need to extend the duration that we will be carrying out utility trial hole surveys in locations along sections of Aston Church Road, Warren Road and Chartist Road. We will now be working in these locations between Monday 23 August and Monday 6 September, dates are subject to the progress of the surveys programme.
To complete the utility trial hole inspections, we will use a vacuum excavator, which uses compressed air to loosen or agitate the ground. The loosened material is then removed using the vacuum on the machine creating a hole. At times we will also use hand digging tools to excavate the trial holes. Once the surveys are carried out, we will backfill and reinstate all the trial holes.
These surveys will help us to plan where utility diversions will be required as we prepare to construct the railway in Birmingham.
Overnight road closure and temporary traffic lights
To be able to carry out these inspections safely and effectively, we will need to put in place temporary traffic lights on sections of Aston Church Road, Chartist Road and Warren Road on 23 and 24 August and again from 31 August to 2 September.
We will also need to put in place an overnight road closure with a diversion route along a section of Aston Church Road on 25 and 26 August, and 1 September to 7 September, excluding weekends.
The temporary lights will be operational from 9.30am to 3.30pm. The road closure with diversion route will be operational from 9:00pm to 5:00am. Access to properties and businesses will be maintained at all times.
