What we are doing

What we are doing
Ahead of tunnelling later this year, we will be conducting utility surveys on Greenford Road at the Rockware Avenue junction from 6 to 28 June 2022.

The works will consist of digging trial holes, ground penetrating radar (GPR) surveys and investigating the condition of the gas main on Greenford Road, in the areas shown on the map overleaf.

The surveys will provide us with information on the condition of the utilities before tunnelling starts.

The surveys will be conducted in three phases with a combination of daytime and night-time working.

How these works might affect you
Due to the location of the utility surveys below the road, temporary traffic management will be in place. This is to ensure that the surveys can be conducted safely. We will install and remove the temporary traffic management at the start and end of each night shift.

There will be intermittent noise whilst the road surface is being broken.

Your utility services will not be affected.

We would like to apologise in advance for any disruption or inconvenience this may cause. Every effort is being taken to ensure that these works are conducted in the least impactful way. We will ensure that disruption is kept to a minimum.

Phase of works
• Phase 1: from 6 – 10 June, trial hole & gas main CCTV Survey between 8am and 5pm.
• Phase 2: from 13 – 17 June, GPR and drainage surveys at yellow junction box overnight between 8pm and 5am.The traffic management will be installed and removed at the start and end of each night shift.
• Phase 3: from 20 – 24 June, trial Hole & Gas Main CCTV Survey under bridge between 8am and 5pm. • Phase 4: from 27 – 28 June, laser scanning survey works under the bridge overnight between 8pm to 5am.

Surveys planned on Lyon Way
From 14 to 18 June, we will be conducting drainage surveys on Lyon Way. The surveys will take place overnight between 9pm and 6am.

These surveys will help us to understand the condition of the drainage system in the area and how best to protect them during the construction of the railway. We will investigate the condition of the sewer system using a camera and may need to flush the system if any blockages are found.

Your utility surveys will not be affected during these works.

We will also be carrying out laser scanning surveys of the bridge on Lyon Way. The survey is non-intrusive and is scheduled to take place from 29 June to 1 July 2022, between 8am to 5am. There will be a lane closure on Lyon Way in order to fully scan the width and length of the bridge.

How these works might affect you
Due to the location of the drainage system under the road surface, a temporary lane closure will be in place on Lyon Way to ensure that the surveys can be conducted safely. You can view the location of these works on the map below.
