What we are doing
In July 2025 we started works diverting the gas main in South Hampstead to protect it before tunnelling for HS2 starts in the area. These works will take place in phases on Finchley Road, College Crescent, Hilgrove Road and Alexandra Road.
Currently we are carrying out works on College Crescent and Alexandra Road. These works were expected to be complete on 12 December 2025. They are now due to finish on 27 February 2026.
During excavation the gas main was discovered to be of a different material than on the utility company records. We are now required to complete additional works, which has delayed our programme.
We are sorry for the disruption that the delay in these works may cause, and we will keep you updated on further details before each phase, and as works progress.
