What we are doing
Installation of sheet piles
As we start construction of the new Duddeston Mill Road Underbridge, we will need to install sheet piles into the ground to create the foundations for the piers of the bridge.
This new 21.5-meter bridge will carry two Network Rail lines over Duddeston Mill Road. These two lines are currently located on the existing Duddeston Mill bridge but will need to be removed to make space for the pier of the new Duddeston Junction Viaduct which will carry the HS2 line.
We plan to carry out these sheet piling works during a mixture of weekday activity and weekend possessions of the Network Rail line starting from Saturday 13 August and ongoing until Sunday 2 October.
Managing our impacts
We plan to use vibration to drive the sheet piles into the ground, this will help us to reduce our noise impacts. If, however the ground is more resistant than expected we may need to switch at short notice to driving the sheet piles into the ground using a piling hammer. We will however continue to monitor our noise and vibration levels throughout these works.
